The Hotlink Protection feature in cPanel is useful for preventing other people from linking directly to image files on your website. This feature is very useful, especially if you have copyrighted images, but it is also useful for reducing bandwidth wasted on your website. The method:
- In the SECURITY section, click on the
Hotlink Protection
button. - If Hotlink Protection is not yet active, click on the Enable button to activate it.
- You can see some websites that are in the URLs to allow access column.
This is a list of websites whose files can be accessed/linked by others. You can delete it as per your wish whichever web is given permission. - Below that you can see the
Block direct access for the following extensions (comma-separated)
section, this column is a list of file extensions that cannot be accessed directly by website visitors. Put a checkmark onAllow direc
t requests if you still give access to access it. - In the R
edirect the request to the following
URL section, enter the desired URL if the user accesses the blocked file. Users will be redirected to that page if they open the blocked file directly. - Click on the
Submit
button to save the settings.
To disable Hotlinks you can click on the Disable
button.
