How to Back Up a Website in Plesk

Backing up your website regularly helps protect against data loss, errors, or attacks. Plesk makes it easy to create full or partial backups.


Step 1: Log in to Plesk

Go to:

https://your-server-ip:8443

Log in with your Plesk credentials.


Step 2: Go to Your Domain

  • In the left menu, click Websites & Domains

  • Select the domain you want to back up


Step 3: Open Backup Manager

Under your domain’s tools, click Backup Manager.

You’ll be taken to the backup section for that domain.


Step 4: Click “Back Up”

Click the Back Up button to start a new backup.

You'll see several options.


Step 5: Configure Your Backup

Choose your backup settings:

  • What to back up:

    • Full backup (website files + databases + emails)

    • Only files or databases

  • Store in:

    • Server storage (default)

    • Remote FTP storage (if configured)

  • Comments: (optional) Add a note for this backup

  • Email notification: Receive an alert when the backup finishes


Step 6: Start the Backup

Click OK to start the backup process.

Plesk will begin backing up your website. Large websites may take a few minutes.


Step 7: Download or Restore Later

After it's done, your backup will appear in the Backup Manager list. You can:

  • Download the backup file to your local computer

  • Restore your website from this backup anytime
