How to Create an FTP Account in Plesk

Creating a separate FTP account lets users upload or manage files for a specific website or folder — without accessing your full Plesk dashboard.

Step 1: Log in to Plesk

Go to:

https://your-server-ip:8443

Sign in with your Plesk credentials.

Step 2: Go to Websites & Domains

From the left sidebar, click Websites & Domains and select the domain where you want to create the FTP account.

Step 3: Click “FTP Access”

Under your domain tools, click FTP Access.

This page shows a list of existing FTP users.

Step 4: Click “Add an FTP Account”

Click the Add an FTP Account button to open the new user form.

Step 5: Fill in FTP Account Details

Enter the following information:

  • FTP account name: e.g. ftpuser

  • Home directory: select the folder this user can access (default is /httpdocs)

  • Password: enter a strong password

  • Confirm password: retype the same password

You can optionally limit access to specific folders for security.

Step 6: Save the Account

Click OK or Create to finish.

The new FTP account is now active.

Step 7: Connect via FTP Client

You can now connect using any FTP client (like FileZilla) with the following info:

  • Host: your domain name or server IP

  • Username: the FTP account you created

  • Password: the password you set

  • Port: 21
