How to Clone (Copy) a Website in Plesk

Plesk allows you to clone an entire website — including files, databases, and settings — to another domain or subdomain.

Step 1: Log in to Plesk

Open:

https://your-server-ip:8443

Sign in with your Plesk admin or hosting credentials.

Step 2: Go to Websites & Domains

From the left menu, click Websites & Domains.

Choose the domain you want to copy.

Step 3: Click “Website Copying”

Under your domain’s tools, click Website Copying or Clone Website (depending on your Plesk version).

This opens the site copying tool.

Step 4: Choose Destination

You’ll be asked to choose where to copy the site:

  • To another domain/subdomain on the same server

  • Or create a new subdomain (e.g., staging.yourdomain.com) for testing

You can also choose to overwrite an existing site, or just copy the files and skip databases.

Step 5: Start the Copy

Click OK or Start to begin the copying process.

Plesk will duplicate the site content, database, and settings to the new destination.

Step 6: Done!

Once completed, the copied site is ready.

You can now:

  • Test updates safely

  • Create staging environments

  • Backup your live site before changes
